Network Operations Center Technician (Linux Administration)
As a member of our Network Operations team this position will be required to work closely with the customer service, implementation, engineering teams and software development teams in order to efficiently monitor, troubleshoot and resolve commercially deployed wireless systems. The position requires a responsible, team oriented, well organized individual with strong technical and communications skills and the ability to handle multiple concurrent issues while adapting quickly to rapidly changing priorities.
Required skills include but not limited to:
- Monitor, administer, and support highly available Linux based applications on hosted and carrier-grade turnkey platforms.
- Assist with customer implementations and configurations
- Assist carriers with problem solving multi-party issues in a consultative manner
- Able to work compressed shift schedules in support of 24/7 onsite staffing
- Participate in on-call rotation
Candidates are required to have:
- 3+ years of system administration experience in Linux environments (CentOS, Debian preferred)
- Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP networking including routing, firewalls, VPNs
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- Working knowledge of scripting languages (BASH, PERL)
- 1+ years working with SQL databases, preferably MySQL
- A strong desire to learn new technology in a fast paced environment
Preferred Skills and Education:
- 4+ years of experience administering web and database servers (LAMP preferred)
- Experience with SS7 and SMPP protocols a major plus
- Familiarity with Nagios and/or other network monitoring solutions
- Wireless industry experience a major plus (GSM, CDMA)
