First CMAS Required Monthly Test Today

Today at 1 p.m. EDT, FEMA will generate the first required monthly test message for the Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS), also known as Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). Interop will forward this message to all of the operators using our hosted Commercial Mobile Service Provider (CMSP) Gateway. The message text will read, “This is a test of the Commercial Mobile Alert System. This is only a test.”

For those of you that haven’t committed to offering this important alert service, it’s not too late. You can learn more about Interop’s hosted CMSP Gateway, the simplest, most cost-effective option for CMAS compliance, on our website. Now that CMAS is up and running and subscriber awareness is growing, you’ll want to participate, both to protect your subscriber base and to remain competitive with other operators. And remember, there are significant subscriber notification requirements for operators that opt out. Check out my previous blog post for details.
