Interop Technologies Names José Antonio (Tony) Mijares
As Senior Vice President of International Sales

FORT MYERS, FL.—Jan. 26, 2010—Interop Technologies, a provider of core solutions for messaging, device management, and connectivity gateways, has named José Antonio (Tony) Mijares to the newly created position of Senior Vice President of International Sales. With more than 30 years of experience in telecommunications, Mijares is a proven executive with expertise in business development and sales. At Interop he will focus on business development in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) and Asia regions.

Mijares has successfully introduced telecom products, services, and companies to international markets. He has consistently exceeded expectations for organizations including Nortel Networks and BellSouth. Mijares comes to Interop from Airvana, a mobile broadband technology provider, where he served six years as Vice President of CALA Sales.

For eight years, Mijares was with Nortel Networks, where he earned the company’s elite sales award, given to the top 1 percent of Nortel employees, and repeatedly obtained Circle of Excellence Achievement Awards. He rose to Vice President Sales, Latin America Division, where he was responsible for more than $350 million in new business development for the company’s wireline and wireless product lines. In the late 1990s, he led Nortel’s highly successful CALA Wireless Division.

To benefit its hosted customers, Interop can also support and soon will deploy Voice over LTE via Generic Access (VoLGA), Instant Messaging (IM), and Rich Communications Suite (RCS) implementations. Support for both the initial IMS/SIP implementation and the additional 4G protocols is covered under the company's existing commercial terms with operator customers.

A BellSouth engineer and network operations executive for 10 years, Mijares most recently was Senior Manager, New Services Strategic Planning, for the State of Florida. He was one of only four employees selected for a Technology Internship Program at Bell Communications Research (Bellcore). Mijares also has served as General Manager of Q Wireless LLC, a distributor for Taiwanese manufacturer BenQ.

Mijares holds an M.S. degree and a B.S. degree magna cum laude, both in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami.

"With his track record of achievement in global markets, Tony Mijares will be instrumental in helping us reach our aggressive international growth goals," said John Dwyer, President and CEO, Interop Technologies. "Tony’s emphasis will be on building awareness and educating operators about our powerful technology solutions, including our SMSC 4 Series, the world's fastest SMS Center."
