WAP Gateway to Enhance Wireless Services for Sioux Tribe

Tribally-owned wireless company deploys mobile Internet services
across Dakotas reservation

FORT MYERS, FL—July 7, 2010—Interop Technologies, a provider of core solutions for messaging, device management, and connectivity gateways, will equip Standing Rock Telecommunications Inc., with its hosted WAP Gateway solution. Standing Rock Telecom serves residents of the Standing Rock Sioux reservation located in portions of North and South Dakota.

By deploying the Interop WAP Gateway, which supports a wide variety of data services, Standing Rock Telecom can enhance its wireless offerings with innovative mobile Internet services specifically molded to the Native American community.

The Interop Technologies modular and massively scalable WAP Gateway enables Standing Rock Telecom to meet customer needs and support strong branding. Using the solution’s easy-to-use and robust toolset, Standing Rock Telecom can instantly approve and control links and images in the customized WAP deck or applications interface, improving the subscriber’s experience. In addition, marketing personnel can administer the WAP deck, leaving IT and engineering resources time to focus on more technical tasks.

Before Standing Rock Telecom began offering service in April 2010, wireless coverage across the reservation was very poor, leaving more than half of the residents without access to wireless service. Standing Rock Telecom has built numerous cell towers, blanketing the area with coverage. As a result, members of the Sioux tribe can take advantage of technology they once lacked.
