Become an Application Engineer

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

(include but not limited to):

This candidate will be part of the technical operations department responsible for the deployment of carrier specific wireless applications across multiple server platforms. Primary responsibilities include assisting with the technical aspects of deploying proprietary and third-party applications. This position also requires customer-facing planning and coordination with new and existing carriers and vendors.

Additional responsibilities include developing deployment guidelines and assisting the the resolution of challenging problems. This position will require a responsible, team-oriented, well-organized individual with strong technical and communications skills. Candidate must have the ability to handle parallel tasks while adapting quickly to rapidly shifting priorities


REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must have the ability to apply creative tactical solutions to business needs
  • Must have at least 8+ years experience administering RHEL/CentOS/Fedora Linux systems
  • Must be proficient in RPM and YUM/DNF (resolving dependency issues, building RPMs)
  • Must be proficient in MySQL/MariaDB query language and administration
  • Must be proficient in Apache HTTP Server administration
  • Must be proficient in Bash scripting plus two more languages: Perl, PHP, Ruby, or Python
  • Must be proficient in Regular Expressions (Regex patterns)
  • Must be able to debug proprietary applications using open source tools
  • Must be able to read and understand C/C++ source code
  • Must be able to troubleshoot applications that use network protocols such as IPv4/IPv6, TCP, UDP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, and SNMP
  • Must be proficient with Wireshark and tcpdump

DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Deploying and administering VMWare virtual machines using vSphere
  • Deploying and administering Kubernetes clusters
  • Systems automation using Puppet and Foreman
  • Experience with mobile ancillary services: SMSC, MMSC, OTAF, RCS, IMS Networks
  • Experience with industry protocols: Diameter, MAP, MSRP, RADIUS, SCCP, SCTP, SDP, SIP, SMPP

EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems (or equivalent work experience)
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer

POSITION MAY REQUIRE:

  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Providing on-call support on nights and weekends
  • Working in excess of 40 hours/week to meet deadlines
  • Traveling to customer sites
