Sprint revealed its response to the growing OTT threat this week by launching its new RCS-based application, Messaging Plus. The downloadable app, which will be pre-loaded on Android devices going forward, lets subscribers communicate through text, instant messaging, group messaging, and video chat.
As always, last week's CCA show was filled with great educational opportunities, industry updates, and the chance to share Interop's latest news with the wireless community. During the show, we announced the introduction of a new Policy and Charging Control solution through a partnership with Tango Telecom.

It’s day two of the CTIA show in Las Vegas, and the Interop team has been enjoying discussions with current and potential customers. The hot topic on operators’ minds is RCS—not whether they should offer this service to subscribers but rather how quickly they can get it up and running. The message is clear: over-the-top (OTT) services are having a dramatic impact on traditional messaging volumes, and operators realize they need to act now to maintain subscriber loyalty.
