We’ve recently announced that we have enhanced our cloud-based RCS technology with two additional RCS version 5 features—a network address book and social presence. The network address book synchronizes users’ contacts among different devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and PCs. With social presence, RCS users receive rich, real-time information (location, favorite link, and portrait icon, for example) for each of their contacts. Last year we introduced support for legacy messaging interworking, another RCS version 5 feature, which provides backward compatibility with SMS and MMS. We’ve also aligned our development roadmap with the GSMA-managed RCS Blackbird and Crane releases, which are subsets of RCS version 5 features that are considered to be high priority. This ensures that we are in synch with client vendors’ development roadmaps that are so crucial to ensuring a positive RCS user experience.
Other news related to the RCS user experience is that we’ve opened up our IOT environment to RCS client vendors and handset manufacturers to enable them to test their client software with a fully compliant RCS server. Multiple major smartphone manufacturers and client vendors are currently conducting IOT with our technology. We encourage additional OEM, client, and IMS infrastructure vendors to partner with us to test RCS version 5 features, such as presence, stand-alone messaging, and legacy interworking, which are available in our cloud RCS solution.
